Moravian Academy and Jumpstreet Tours Proudly Offer a Space Experience Opportunity at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center for MA Students

Moravian Academy is proud to offer an exciting summer opportunity for rising fourth through eighth grade students: a week-long trip to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama this July. Up to 24 students will travel with Moravian Academy science teachers and Space Academy alumni JoAnne Daniels and Brad Pomeroy for an immersive experience as members of Expedition 42. The trip is organized through JumpStreet Educational Tours, ensuring smooth travel and expert guidance throughout the journey.

Expedition 42 will depart from the Merle-Smith Campus on Sunday, July 12, 2026, and return on Friday, July 17, 2026. The group will be divided by age, with twelve students ages 9–11 participating in the Space Camp program and twelve students ages 12–14 participating in the Space Academy program.

Students in Space Camp will suit up for missions to the International Space Station or train for a landing on the moon. The program provides an immersive educational experience, highlighting real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Space Academy students will experience the future of space travel firsthand. They will train to solve technically challenging anomalies, participate in aquatic team-building activities, practice leadership skills at the Space Camp Challenge Course, and test their engineering skills by constructing an ablative shield during the Thermal Design Challenge.

Throughout the week, Mr. Pomeroy and Mrs. Daniels will chaperone the students as they participate in these daily space adventures, while the students are guided and supervised by U.S. Space Camp and Space Academy Crew Trainers.

The trip costs approximately $3,500 per child. This includes transportation to and from Philadelphia International Airport, round-trip airfare on Delta Airlines from Philadelphia (PHL) to Atlanta (ATL) to Huntsville (HSV), and transportation from Huntsville International Airport to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Tuition is included for Space Camp or Space Academy, lodging, and meals. Moravian Academy chaperones will accompany the students, and emergency contacts will be available throughout the trip.

Parents will be invited to a mission briefing, a Q&A session led by Mrs. Daniels, Mr. Pomeroy, Dr. Abby Mahone (Historic Downtown Campus Director), and Claudia Goddard (JumpStreet Educational Tours Representative). This session will provide key trip details and address any questions about travel, logistics, and the overall experience. The briefing will take place in early to mid-January, with the exact date to be announced.

Seats for this unique educational adventure are limited. To reserve your child’s spot, please complete this interest form as soon as possible. Submitting the form does not commit your child to the trip, but it helps us gauge interest for planning purposes.
