Our Legacy of Innovation

When Moravians settled Bethlehem nearly 300 years ago, education and innovation were at the heart of their vision. They built the first school for girls in the American colonies and engineered the nation’s first community water pump system.
That pioneering spirit lives on at Moravian Academy. Today, as we enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution, our students must master new skills to thrive in a world transformed by climate change, polarized politics, and exponential technologies. The challenges of the 21st century require new skills, resilience, and leadership. The Center ensures students are ready to lead and innovate for a better future.

Our Answer

The Center for Civic Leadership & Innovation will be the first PK–12 program of its kind in the nation, tackling urgent global challenges through curriculum, leadership training, and hands-on experiences.
Students will graduate not just with knowledge—but with the skills, mindset, and courage to lead.
 Impact Across PK–12
  • Early Childhood: Foundational leadership, problem-solving, and environmental awareness.
  • Middle School: Real-world projects, civil discourse, and collaboration.
  • Upper School: Certificate programs in leadership, technology, civil discourse, or sustainability, plus fieldwork with community and global partners.
