MAX | Fall 2025 After-School Programs

Discover, Create, and Play After School!

This fall, Moravian Academy is delighted to offer a dynamic lineup of after-school programs on the Historic Downtown and Swain Campus. Beginning the week of September 15, 2025, students will have the opportunity to explore arts, athletics, science, and creative expression in a supportive environment that nurtures curiosity, community, and joy. Programs run from 3:15–4:15 PM unless otherwise noted. Please review the details below, as some courses begin in mid-October, extend beyond October 24, or follow a special schedule.

Important Details
  • Courses will begin the week of September 15, 2025
  • Course offerings will run weekly for 6 sessions. Class instructors will notify families of any changes to the schedule caused by holidays, weather, etc. 
  • Course sessions will be 1 hour long, 3:15 to 4:15 PM (unless otherwise noted).

MAX | Fall Courses

Our after-school courses are taught by Moravian Academy teachers, offering students a chance to explore creativity, curiosity, and skill-building in a familiar, supportive environment. From art and ceramics to sports and science challenges, these programs combine fun, hands-on learning with guidance from our experienced educators.

In addition to our talented faculty, we also offer a few hand-selected specialty programs through our partners, expanding opportunities for students to discover new passions and grow their talents.

Historic Downtown Campus

Mondays

Squirreling Around
  • Age: Grades 1–5
  • Instructors: Brian Elstein & Brad Pomeroy
  • Cost: $195
    Join the fun with our favorite fluffy-tailed friends as we create artwork and much more in collaboration with the squirrels that share our campus. This enrichment program combines elements of art, science, and technology to achieve a better understanding of and relationship with the world around us.
Poetry Power
  • Age: Grades 6–8
  • Instructor: Jania Lasanta
  • Cost: $195
    Whether you're already a poet at heart or just curious to try something new, this program will help you explore different styles of poetry, discover the beauty of language, and find your own unique writing voice. Together, we’ll read poems, write our own, and even perform them. By the end of the program, you’ll have a collection of original poems—and the confidence to share them!
Sports! (Begins in Mid-October)
  • Age: Grades 2–5
  • Instructor: Jeff Siebert
  • Cost: $195
    Sports are a great way to build friendship and teamwork. In this program, we will play in a variety of different sports such as pilo-polo hockey, volleyball, handball, and more. As always, we will learn the importance of sportsmanship in gameplay.
Special Schedule: Course begins on Monday, October 20, 2025 and ends on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Slime Time
  • Age: Grades K–3
  • Instructor: Marc Yerrington
  • Cost: $195
    Try your hand at making different kinds of fun slime: cloud dough, edible slime, glow in the dark and more. Each week, we will learn a new recipe!

Tuesdays

Props and Sets
  • Age: Grades 1–5
  • Instructor: Brian Elstein
  • Cost: $195
    Learn to bring a stage to life! In this exciting after-school program, we will be creating backdrops and props for this year’s 4th and 5th grade Lower School Players' Fall production! We will be using a variety of hands-on mixed media techniques to prepare for the exciting culminating performance in January.
Magic School Bus
  • Age: Grades 1–3
  • Instructor: Brad Pomeroy
  • Cost: $195
    Come join Mr. Pomeroy and Miss Frizzle for some exciting science adventures on The Magic School Bus! Students will enjoy one episode of this classic science video series each week and then do a related experiment or project in the science lab.
Chef Jr.
  • Age: Grades 3–6
  • Instructor: Marc Yerrington
  • Cost: $195
    Explore the tasty foods we will prepare in this bilingual MAX program! Each week you will learn new culinary skills to enjoy, while also practicing your Spanish and learning vocabulary for ingredients we use. Get your apron on!
Elementary Yoga
  • Age: Grades K–3
  • Instructors: Yoga Loft and Lotus Kids
  • Cost: $195
    Join The Lovely Little Lotus in partnership with The Yoga Loft of Bethlehem for our 2nd year of Kids Yoga Storytime. Each class will explore a different theme using yoga and mindfulness through the use of books, games, music, art and more.
Flag Football (Begins in Mid-October)
  • Age: Grades 4–8
  • Instructor: Tarik Haddad
  • Cost: $225
    Ready for fun, friends, and football? Boys and girls in grades 4 through 8 can join our flag football team this season. Players will learn the game, build confidence, and enjoy exciting games full of teamwork and action. No experience is needed—just bring your energy and be part of the team!
Special Schedule: In the first week of this athletics course, it will meet on Wednesday, October 15 and Thursday, October 16. After that, meetings will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will be bused to the Merle-Smith Campus and dismissed from there at 5:00 PM.

The Knight School “Little Geniuses” – Preschool Chess

Wednesdays

Ceramics
  • Age: Grades 1–5
  • Instructor: Brian Elstein
  • Cost: $195
    If you love creating with clay, this program is for you! Students will create several different ceramic projects using a variety of hand-building techniques to create unique 3D works of art.
Lego Masters
  • Age: Grades 3–6
  • Instructor: Marc Yerrington
  • Cost: $195
    Join us for weekly challenges to see where your engineering, building, and creativity can take you. Get your brick on!

Thursdays

Tap Dance

    Welcome to our energetic tap dance class in which students will learn basic tap steps, develop rhythm, and have fun exploring movement and music. Tap is an exciting way for your child to enhance brain development through rhythm and movement, while boosting gross motor skills and academics.

Fridays

Creativity Corner
  • Age: Grades 1–5
  • Instructor: Brian Elstein

    If you have the creativity bug, this program is for you! Use our art room materials to create those original projects you’ve been dreaming of. Each week, students will be offered inspiration and guidance to bring their creative ideas to life.
Fun Friday Fab Lab
  • Age: Grades 4–8
  • Instructor: JoAnne Daniels
  • Cost: $195
    Step into the Fun Friday Fab Lab—where your ideas come to life! Each week you’ll face a new science or engineering challenge, then design, build, and test your way to a solution.
3D Printing
  • Age: Grades 3–5
  • Instructor: Brad Pomeroy
  • Cost: $195
    Learn how to 3D print with Mr. Pomeroy! We’ll use Tinkercad to create fun objects to print on our school’s Prusa 3D printer. Printing has never been this much fun!

Tap Dance (Grades K–3)

    Students will learn basic tap steps, develop rhythm, and explore movement and music in a fun, supportive setting. Tap dance enhances coordination, gross motor skills, and brain development while encouraging creativity and confidence.

Friday

Dungeons and Dragons (Grades 5-8)
  • Instructor: Jeff Haviland
  • Cost: $195
    Dungeons & Dragons MAX is where dragons are real, math is cool, and your imagination runs wild! Create your own hero, team up with friends, battle monsters, and maybe save the world or accidentally set it on fire. No experience needed! Just bring your brain, some dice, and a love for adventure!
