Immersive and Empowering Learning

Explore. Challenge. Excel.
At Moravian Academy’s Merle-Smith Campus, Upper School students pursue rigorous, inspiring academics while collaborating to solve complex, real-world challenges. Curiosity drives learning, and every student is empowered to step confidently into the future.
From the first day of ninth grade, students embark on a journey designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and prepare them for life beyond school. Individualized college counseling begins early, helping students explore possibilities, uncover passions, and identify best-fit schools both locally and globally.
Learning at Moravian Academy knows no bounds. Students can build robots, dissect cadavers, or travel the world—all within a supportive, challenging environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership grounded in integrity.
Through signature programs, interdisciplinary research, and hands-on experiences, students graduate not only prepared for college but empowered to make a meaningful impact in the world.

Upper School Academics

Where Scholarship Meets Discovery
Moravian Academy’s Merle-Smith Campus offers a college-like environment where students work closely with expert faculty to explore personal interests and passions. Across disciplines, our approach empowers students to ask their own questions, build on their strengths, and pursue original ideas, sharing discoveries that inspire the entire community. Through AP and honors courses, hands-on projects, meaningful service learning, and independent research, students develop the skills, confidence, and clarity to define and pursue their next steps. By learning from both success and failure, they graduate ready to shape their own future.

Upper School Athletics

Excellence and Well-Being, On and Off the Field
At Moravian Academy, nearly 80% of students participate in athletics, cultivating skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. As a proud member of the Colonial League, District XI, and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), we offer students top-tier facilities, including soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse fields, baseball and softball diamonds, tennis courts, and practice areas. Our 40,000-square-foot Athletic and Wellness Center features state-of-the-art basketball courts, a multipurpose gym, and a fully equipped wellness center for strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility training. Health and Physical Education classes support mental, physical, and emotional wellness, empowering students to excel, stay active, and lead with confidence both on and off the field.

Upper School Arts

Ignite Your Creativity
At Moravian Academy’s Upper School, students explore visual, musical, and theatre arts while developing skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for their own abilities and the perspectives of others. Advanced coursework, private lessons, and performance opportunities allow students to pursue their passions, create original work, and share it with the community. Through these experiences, students refine their artistic voice, deepen critical thinking, and cultivate the creativity that prepares them for college and beyond.
