Seventh Grade Life Science Students Explore Anatomy Through Frog Dissection

Tarik Haddad
Seventh-grade Life Science students recently stepped into the role of young scientists during a hands-on lab that deepened their understanding of anatomy and body systems. By dissecting frogs, students gained valuable insight into how anatomical structures relate to function and how different organisms meet life’s essential needs.

This lab went beyond identification. It emphasized key academic skills such as observation, collaboration, and scientific inquiry—skills woven throughout our science curriculum. As students examined the internal structures of the frog, they connected their discoveries to broader studies of zoology, ecology, and human biology, reinforcing classroom concepts and applying them in a tangible, real-world context.

Students also compared frog anatomy to human body systems, sparking meaningful discussions about the similarities and differences in how living organisms survive and thrive in their environments. For many, the experience proved memorable and confidence-building, offering a chance to engage with science as active participants and thoughtful problem-solvers.
