Merle-Smith Campus Special Awards, Cum Laude Induction and Class of 2025 Awards

Stephen Molloy & Kim Sanborn
At Moravian Academy, we take great pride in recognizing the dedication, talent, and character of our students. Last week, in two meaningful ceremonies held on our Merle-Smith Campus, the community came together to celebrate both underclassmen and seniors for their academic, athletic, and service achievements. These annual traditions shine a light on the excellence and leadership that define a Moravian Academy education.

On the morning of May 29, 2025, the Merle-Smith Campus celebrated the Special Awards and Cum Laude Society Induction Ceremony. During the ceremony, the noteworthy and often extraordinary accomplishments of students in grades 9-11 are recognized with awards from outside organizations like the National French Contest, Rotary International, and the Hugh O'Brien Youth organization, as well as awards for excellence in specific areas of study presented by Upper School departments. The ceremony concludes with All-Campus awards for outstanding scholarship and leadership.

Founded in 1906, the Cum Laude Society is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools. The founders of the society modeled Cum Laude after Phi Beta Kappa and in the years since its founding, Cum Laude has grown to 382 chapters, approximately two dozen of which are located in public schools and the rest in Independent schools.

On May 30, 2025, the Merle-Smith Campus celebrated the graduating Class of 2025 with an awards ceremony honoring the students' athletic, academic, and service accomplishments. In addition to awards for excellence in specific areas of study presented by Upper School academic departments, honors for exceptional athletic performance and leadership in athletics, as well as service to the school community and the community at large are presented. The ceremony concludes with the Academy's most prestigious All-Campus awards for outstanding scholarship and leadership.

Together, these ceremonies reflect the depth and breadth of student achievement at Moravian Academy. The following is a list of the awards presented and the students recognized for their outstanding accomplishments.
