Middle School Field Hockey Bridges Across Campuses

This season’s Junior High Field Hockey team is something truly special: a blend of students from both the Swain Campus and Historic Downtown Campus plus local Catholic school students, made possible through Moravian’s sports agreement with Notre Dame High School. Together, they’ve created a team that embodies inclusiveness, connection, and the spirit of community. Watching friendships form across campuses and teamwork build bridges has been nothing short of inspiring.

Under the leadership of Coach Helene Perucci-Kinsman, a Moravian Academy alum and Swain Campus faculty member, the team has flourished both on and off the field. Perucci-Kinsman brings a unique perspective to her role, having once played on this very team as a seventh grader when she first discovered her passion for Field Hockey. Today, she guides her players with that same sense of belonging and purpose that shaped her own experience.

The team’s success goes far beyond the scoreboard, though their 5-2-3 record reflects their strong collaboration and drive. Each practice and game emphasizes the values of teamwork, communication, and trust, reminding players that every position matters and that true achievement comes from working together.
Coach Perucci-Kinsman notes that this season has been a remarkable display of acceptance, growth, and connection, a living example of what happens when young people unite with open hearts and a shared goal. This team’s journey reflects the very best of Moravian Academy’s community spirit: strength through collaboration and joy in shared purpose.
