Two Perfect Scores at PJAS State-Level Competition
Jess Donahue, JoAnne Daniels, & Lindsey Ronco
We are delighted to announce that Moravian Academy students delivered an exceptional performance at this year’s Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) state-level competition. Lucille Deyton '30 and A.J. Williams '29 earned perfect scores for their projects At What Angles From the Fixation Point are an Incoming Object and Its Color Detected? and The Effects of Lighting on Coral respectively.
A total of 31 students from our Historic Downtown and Swain Campuses participated, representing Moravian Academy with curiosity, commitment, and academic rigor. Twenty-eight of these students advanced to the state competition, held at Penn State’s main campus from Sunday, May 18 through Tuesday, May 20, following their success at the regional level in February.
Their work culminated in an impressive collection of awards: seventeen First Awards, eight Second Awards, one Third Award—and, notably, the two perfect scores that underscore the high standard of student inquiry and presentation.
This enriching experience was further supported by three student technicians and five adult chaperones, whose time and dedication helped make this opportunity possible.
We invite you to enjoy the photos celebrating our student scientists. Congratulations to all who participated in this remarkable academic journey.
