The Comenius Independent Study Program offers Merle-Smith Campus sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to pursue their interests through self-directed research and creative work, showcasing critical thinking, curiosity, and a passion for learning within the Moravian Academy community.
In her Comenius Project, One Size Does Not Fit All: Using Personalized Psychology to Fight Recidivism, Lia Nnenkwo '28 explored how personalized psychology and post-incarceration support programs can help reduce recidivism, the tendency for individuals to reoffend after being released from incarceration.
Working closely with her mentor, Dr. Crowe, Lia researched recidivism rates and examined the effectiveness of post-incarceration aid programs, focusing on how different approaches contribute to lowering recidivism rates.
Through this project, Lia strengthened her understanding of criminal justice and forensic psychology while exploring the application of psychology to real-world challenges.
The Comenius Project, part of our Comenius Independent Study Program, allows students to pursue self-directed research and creative inquiry, showcasing their curiosity, critical thinking, and passion for learning within our community.
