Moravian Academy’s Dr. Catherine Moore to Lead “The Artivist” Workshop at Lehigh University

Moravian Academy’s Dr. Catherine Moore will be bringing her renowned expertise in storytelling and creative drama to the Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) on Saturday, March 28.

Known to many as the "Story Doctor," Dr. Moore has been a cornerstone of the Moravian Academy faculty since 2006. In her celebrated Power of Story course, she transforms traditional literature study into an experiential "story laboratory," where students engage in fieldwork and collaborative projects that bridge the gap between the page and the community.

In this upcoming community workshop, Dr. Moore will lead an interactive exploration of Nikkolas Smith’s picture book, The Artivist. The session is designed to help children (and "children" up to age 94!) discover how art can be a powerful tool for empathy and social change. Participants will:
  • Engage in "Storytelling Medicine": Experience a shared reading that jumps off the page through imaginative drama activities.
  • Explore the Galleries: View LUAG’s collections through guided sketching and reflective conversation.
  • Create Together: Collaborate on a community mural expressing a collective vision for a better world.
Whether she is mentoring our Upper School seniors or delighting young audiences in the broader Bethlehem community, Dr. Moore continues to demonstrate how stories help us navigate the "big feelings" of our world today. We invite the entire Moravian Academy community to support Dr. Moore and experience the magic of the Story Laboratory firsthand.
