Academic Excellence Award - Given to honor eighth grade students who achieve a ninety-five percent average for each trimester at the Historic Downtown Campus Middle School.

Citizenship Award - Given to an eighth-grade student who best exemplifies the qualities we label as a decent human being (self-respect, dignity, a concern and respect for others, strong moral character, empathy, and being self-aware). Involvement with the student body, the school, and the community is expected.

Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship & Leadership - Given to honor an eighth-grade student who exemplifies excellence in academic achievement and leadership in the Historic Downtown Campus Middle School. This person exhibits consistent superior scholarship, expresses curiosity in class, works beyond that which is required, yet is able to balance these achievements with an interest in classmates and a concern for the school and the community at large.

Athlete of the Year - The Student-Athlete of the Year Award is given annually to an eighth-grade student-athlete. The recipient for this award is a multi-sport athlete who has shown commitment to their teams and has developed as a leader. This individual embodies superior athletic ability, demonstrates a high level of sportsmanship towards teammates, coaches, and officials, and approaches all challenges with a positive attitude. In addition to excelling on the field, the recipient is in good academic standing and meets all academic requirements of the HDC Middle School program.

Heart of the Lion - The Heart of the Lion Award celebrates the journey of an eighth-grade student who has demonstrated remarkable growth and resilience during their time in middle school at the Historic Downtown Campus. This recipient has successfully overcome obstacles and challenges through determination, perseverance, and hard work.
Performing Arts Award - Given to an eighth-grade student who exemplifies a commitment to music education, participates in at least one music ensemble at the Historic Downtown Campus Middle School, and provides leadership to a performing group.
