Moravian Academy Mathematics Teacher Mr. Leon Galitsky Publishes First Textbook

Moravian Academy is proud to announce the publication of Numerical Analysis: Interpolation, Differentiation, and Integration by Mr. Leon Galitsky, mathematics teacher at the Merle-Smith Campus. The textbook is now available for purchase in both print and digital formats.

Designed for students completing a year of calculus, the textbook guides readers through analyzing problems, selecting effective methods, and working through each step with clarity. Through detailed, hand-developed examples, students are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of numerical analysis while comparing different mathematical approaches.

With 26 years of experience teaching advanced mathematics at Moravian Academy, Mr. Galitsky has shared his expertise in courses including multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and numerical analysis, helping students strengthen their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

A prototype version of the textbook was successfully used in Mr. Galitsky’s Numerical Analysis class, where Moravian Academy students contributed to the development process by proofing exercises. As promised, all students from his first Numerical Analysis class in 2023–2024, as well as all students from his 2025–2026 class, are recognized by name in the acknowledgements.

The physical edition is available for purchase with delivery options as soon as the next day, while the digital edition is available for immediate download. The textbook can be purchased through De Gruyter Brill, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.

Mr. Galitsky extends his appreciation to everyone who supported him throughout this process. He shared that he valued seeing the names of those who commented and reacted to the original announcement and was grateful for the community’s encouragement.

Congratulations to Mr. Galitsky on this exciting accomplishment and on sharing his passion for mathematics with students and educators beyond the Moravian Academy community.
