Early Childhood Education on the Historic Downtown Campus

NEW BEGINNING SCHOOL CURRICULUM FOR 2024-25
Beginning the 2024-25 academic year, the Historic Downtown Campus will proudly adopt the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for the beginning school.

The IEYC is a globally recognized curriculum rooted in best practices for early childhood education, specifically tailored to meet the developmental needs of 2- to 5-year-olds. This curriculum is designed to facilitate a seamless transition between early years and compulsory education, fostering playful learning experiences and cultivating essential skills that nurture curiosity, agency, and inquiry.

Recognizing the importance of continually refining and enhancing the curriculum, a committee led by Campus Director, Dr. Abby Mahone, Assistant Campus Director, Dr. Sara Vanderbeck and the dedicated preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten teachers, collaborated to research the highest-quality early childhood education programs available. The IEYC curriculum emerged as the clear choice due to its ability to bridge the gap between rigorous, repetitive learning and play-based experiences.
The early years of a child's education are truly magical, and this new curriculum provides diverse opportunities for our youngest students, molding them into global citizens. IEYC is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to confidently leap into first grade, fully prepared to engage with subsequent learning experiences.
