Honorary Alumni

Through their dedication and contribution to society, Honorary Alumni embody the Moravian Academy core values of community, curiosity, integrity, and excellence.  To receive this award, honorees must not have attended Moravian Academy. Honorary Alumni are selected by the Alumni Association Executive Board.
Peter Ender to Be Honored as Honorary Alumnus by the Moravian Academy Alumni Association

The Moravian Academy Alumni Association is proud to recognize Dr. Peter Ender as an Honorary Alumnus, celebrating his years of dedicated service to the community and his deep connection to Moravian Academy.  Peter was a trusted and integral advisor to Moravian Academy’s administration during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  He helped guide our administration through key health-related decisions on how to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe.  Because of his guidance, we were able to keep our doors open for in-person instruction during this tricky time.
Peter graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Environmental Science before earning his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine through an Air Force scholarship, graduating in 1992. He went on to complete a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases, serving as an infectious disease physician in the United States Air Force until 2001. He continued in the Air Force Reserve as an international health specialist until retiring in 2007 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Since 2001, Peter has been a valued member of the medical staff at St. Luke’s Hospital. He has served in numerous roles, including clinical infectious disease physician, medical director of the HIV clinics, and clinical professor of medicine at the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine. He has led the Section of Infectious Diseases for the St. Luke’s University Health Network since 2017.
Peter and his wife, Heidi, have been married for 33 years and have been a part of the Moravian Academy community for many years. Their three children—Matthew ’13, Ashley ’16, and Stephen ’21—are all proud “Lifers” at the Academy. The Ender family shares a love of travel and outdoor activities and are active members of Grace Church Bethlehem, where they serve in Sunday hospitality.
We are grateful for Peter’s longstanding commitment to his family, profession, and community, and we are honored to welcome him into the alumni family of Moravian Academy.
Fred and Joan Duckloe to Be Honored as Honorary Alumni by the Moravian Academy Alumni Association
The Moravian Academy Alumni Association is proud to recognize Fred and Joan Duckloe as Honorary Alumni in celebration of their longstanding contributions to the community and their deep connection to Moravian Academy.
Fred Duckloe, along with his sister Barbara Duckloe Townsend, represented the fourth generation of the Duckloe family to carry on the proud tradition of crafting high-quality furniture from native Pennsylvania hardwoods. Founded in 1859, their company became widely known for its historically accurate reproductions of Windsor chairs—produced using time-honored techniques passed down through generations. Under Fred’s leadership and in collaboration with 25 skilled craftsmen, Duckloe furniture found its way into many iconic and historically significant spaces, including Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the National Museum of American History/Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities in Boston, among numerous other prestigious institutions throughout the Northeast.
Joan Duckloe, a former Chartered Accountant from Canada, Investment Officer at the World Bank and then personal financial planner, has also exemplified a strong commitment to service and community. She served on Moravian Academy’s Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2020, generously sharing her expertise and leadership in support of the school’s mission.
Now both retired, Fred and Joan are the proud parents of Greg, married with a young son living in London, England and Allison, married and living in Brisbane, Australia, both members of Moravian Academy’s Class of 2009.
Together, Fred and Joan Duckloe embody the values of quality, tradition, and community that are at the heart of the Moravian Academy experience. We are honored to welcome them into the Moravian Academy alumni family.
