Academic and college counseling begins in ninth grade and continues through twelfth grade. The emphasis in ninth grade is on process and personal growth.
Things To Do:
  • Attend Freshmen Seminar program. This curriculum is designed to assist students with their transition to Upper School life. Students meet weekly to familiarize themselves with academic and social expectations at this level. As part of the program, freshmen are given an overview of how colleges evaluate applications.
  • Adjust to the academic rigor of high school while finding balance with extracurricular activities. Find activities of interest and pursue them with commitment and passion (depth over breadth is key). Click here to view the Clubs & Activities page.
  • Meet with Mrs. Weems, Academic Dean, to talk about your academic program, strengths, and interests
  • Think about what you will do this summer. Click here to view the Summer Programs page.
Test Calendar - Ninth Grade
All freshmen take the ERB standardized tests in April during the school day. The results are sent home in June along with the final report card. Students and parents are welcome to meet with the academic counselor to review the scores. Those freshmen who intend to major in science at college and earn a grade of ‘A-' or higher in biology may elect to take the Subject Test in biology. Registration is through The College Board; the Moravian Academy school code is 390-335.
