Mini-MAX: Winter Break Session

Get ready for some winter break fun with our Mini-MAX courses! Join us on Wednesday, December 20th, Thursday, December 21st, and Friday, December 22nd.
  • Mini-MAX courses will begin at 8:00AM and run till 3:00PM.   
  • Mini-MAX courses will be offered for 1-day, 2-days or all 3-days.
  • Mini-MAX courses offered during Winter Break will take place on the Historic Downtown Campus.
  • Afternoon extended care may be available upon request.  Please note, there is a minimum number of students required to open extended care. If this minimum threshold is not met, afternoon extended care will not be offered.
  • Students will need to pack lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.

  • Coding Camp

    Whether you're new to Scratch or an 'expert,' spend the day coding games and adventures. Camp is open to Scratch coders of all levels!

  • Dissections, Extractions, and Microscopes

    Have you ever wondered what living things are made of and looked inside of them? In this program, students will partake in a variety of rare biology labs to investigate life in its purest forms. Students will dissect different phyla of organisms such as worms, insects, fish, and even a frog, to study their inner anatomy. Major organs will be on display including a sheep heart, cow eye, and pig kidney! Students will also learn how to extract the DNA from an organism's cells and observe its incredible double-helix structure. With parent permission, student may extract a sample of their own DNA to take home with them! Additionally, students will use microscopes to investigate life on a cellular level by making their own samples from pond water and the specimens in the lab. Get your lab coats ready!

  • Holiday Gingerbread Houses, Games, and Crafts!

    Get into the holiday spirit by making a gingerbread house you can take home with you! We will play holiday games and make other fun holiday crafts, too!

  • SPORTS!

    In the "SPORTS!" program, we will be playing a different sport or activity each week. The sports include soccer, handball, volleyball, basketball, etc. We will be practicing the skills and strategies of the games and activities while also working on sportsmanship. I hope you can join us!

  • Toy Animation!

    Just in time for the gifting season, this engaging program we will explore the mysterious question of what would happen if our new toys came to life! Using the technique of stop motion animation our young animators will create original short films exploring this exciting idea! Participants are encouraged to bring in their favorite small toys to incorporate into their animated films!

  • Wings

    Let your child take to the skies with one full day of aerial adventures. From paper airplane challenges, foam board scratch builds, tumblewing gliders, flight simulators, and more, your child will engage in the science of flight through a series of design challenges and builds. Principles of flight and imagination combine to create a memorable, fun, and exciting, engineering experience.

  • A Day of Decoration

    Would you like to transform your home into a winter wonderland! Then join us for a day filled with hands on decoration projects. We will be working with a variety of artistic media to create fun and festive works of art that are sure to get anyone into the spirit of the season. Student artists will come home with arms full of exciting decorations and ornaments ready for display!

  • Holiday Science

    Join Mr. Pomeroy on the Historic Downtown Campus for some awesome Holiday Science! We will explore emulsions, create dissolving density gradients, have tinsel jump with our Van de Graf generator, explore Circuit-tree (circuitry), engage in ice challenges, and yes, even race Rudolph! Ho Ho Ho! (Ho = Holinium, a rare earth element with atomic number 67!)

  • Rube Goldberg’s Creativity Machine

    Rube Goldberg is a well-know comic artist and engineer who designed complex machines that experiment with cause and effect. His designs have inspired a movement of artists who create their own cause and effect machines. This exciting program will give participants the opportunity to create kinetic sculptural designs that encourage teamwork, experimentation and humor. In other words, we will spend an exciting day making complicated machines that do simple things!

  • Bluey and Bingo Go to Camp

  • El Invierno: Winter Games and Crafts en Español

    A great program for emerging bilinguals or those interested in the immersion program! Students will play and craft in Spanish! We will play traditional games from Spanish speaking countries, read winter and holiday stories, and create winter crafts as well! Students will learn winter vocabulary in Spanish as well as some holiday vocabulary as well.
