Third Graders Learn About Force and Motion With Simple Machines

Levers and pulleys- what better way to learn about simple machines than by using them? The third grade class at Moravian Academy had the opportunity see their lessons on force and motion put to action with a giant lever built especially for them. Inventor and third grade parent Bill Schierwagen added simple machines to show how they can make work easier. Mr. Schierwagen’s daughter assisted in the demonstration, as her classmates attempted to lift her with the help of the giant lever. Students then invented their own creations incorporating simple machines.
