Delana Bettoli was in
Bethlehem
for a book signing and thought it would be fun to talk to
students at
Moravian
Academy
about her profession. The children’s book illustrator visited
fifth graders in Ms. Nazzaro’s art class Tuesday afternoon and
spoke of her experiences creating drawings for an author’s
text. Ms. Bettoli described different illustration terms like
“spot art”, “spreads” and “gutter” while displaying
the evolution of one of her illustrations for the book “Tic
Toc Shark”. At the conclusion of the lesson, Ms. Bettoli
answered questions from students and encouraged them all to draw
for fun and maybe make it a job, just like she did.
