In the last five years, through the generosity of the
attendees at the Moravian Academy Auction through the
Fund-A-Need Program, several projects have been addressed to
provide students with the best academic environment possible.
Some of these upgrades include improved technology, a renovated
space for a Lower School science room and refurbished pianos.
This year Fund-A-Need, with your continued generous support,
will make Walter Hall air-conditioned in every classroom.
Over the years,
Moravian
Academy
has used funds to construct a number of additions to Walter Hall
on the Merle-Smith (Green Pond) campus.
Since the late 1960’s, the library, the classroom wing,
Auditorium and the Van Merle-Smith Woodworking Studio have all
been added to the original structure. All of these
additions were constructed with air-conditioning but some of the
original areas were not. Over the years, the school has
tried to remedy this by adding air-conditioning systems to
classrooms incrementally as funding permitted. The entire
building is now air-conditioned except for three of the original
classrooms (rooms 101, 102 & 105). The installation of
air-conditioning will allow the school to:
Alleviate the
academic challenge of learning in a classroom without
air-conditioning; it will provide an appropriate academic
environment;
· Allow the
summer camp to use the classrooms for its program. The
summer camp is a program that provides the school with added
income.
The cost of the
installation of air conditioning to these areas is $38,000 and
will be completed this summer through the support of the
attendees at the Moravian Academy Ball. Your support is
greatly appreciated.
