Hands-On Agriculture at the Lower School

During the week of November 26, Lower School students were treated to fun lessons about agriculture, courtesy of the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab. The experiments offered inside the 40-foot trailer ranged from testing Styrofoam against eco-foam to making plastic from corn. Each experiment is meant to emphasize a different aspect of agriculture and increase the students’ awareness of agriculture in everyday life. 

Judy Dilts, the mobile learning center’s certified teacher, believes the lessons are effective because the students enjoy the hands-on experience. Endorsed by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the Ag Mobile travels to a different elementary school in the state each week, offering 25 different lessons that encompass nutrition, farm life, and the environment.
