Reunion 2007

Reunion 2007 was a huge event.  Thank you to the more than 250 alums who attended one event or another.  This was the largest Moravian Academy reunion ever!  Below is a description of each event.

The Reunion Lovefeast

The first ever Reunion Lovefeast was a success.  The theme of the event was “Giving Back” as Dr. Robert Knouss ’62 was posthumously honored as a Distinguished Alumnus for his efforts in positively impacting hundreds of thousands of peoples lives nationally and internationally.  David Hartmann ’62 gave the meditation and talked about how everyone can give back in some way no matter what their age.  Both alumni and students were present.  Other alumni participants were Chad Decker ‘92, Vice President of the Alumni Association, Brie Terrinoni Chambers ’93 and Barbara Martin Stout ’47.  Wendy DeMarco Fuentes ‘87, President of the Alumni Association presented Martha Knouss with her husband’s Distinguished Alumnus plaque.

Reunion Golf Outing

Friday of Reunion weekend was a perfect afternoon for the first ever Golf Outing.  Foursomes teed off at Center Valley Club enjoying an afternoon of fun.  Golfers either put together their own groups or let the Alumni office take care of it for them.  Headmaster George King met each golfer before teeing off or on the course.

Reunion Cocktail Party at the Brew Works

Back by popular demand, the Brew Works Cocktail Party was a huge success with over 150 alumni attending.  Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were enjoyed by alumni from the classes of 2003 back to 1949.  The feeling of reconnecting was electric as alums met up with classmates they and not seen for years!  Headmaster George King and Charliese King joined the fun and welcomed alumni.

The Alumni Luncheon

Saturday’s events kicked off with a Lunch and Program in a huge tent in front of Snyder House on the Merle-Smith Campus at Green Pond.  Participants in the program were Headmaster George King, Wendy DeMarco Fuentes ’87 (President of the Alumni Association) Chad Decker ’92 (Vice President of the Alumni Association) and Freddy Vasta ’99 (Secretary of the Alumni Association).  Class trophies were presented to participation in the Annual Fund and Top Donating Class.  Gertrude Miller Smull ’32, was honored as it was her 75th class reunion.  After the short program, the alumni who number more than 140, enjoyed lunch together while the Upper School vocal group, Coda Red, sang the three alma maters and entertained with a few other songs.

Alumni Field Hockey Game

This year, the first ever alumni field hockey game took place on Shields Field.  Spectators watched as former Moravian Academy field hockey players drove and dribbled the ball down the field.  Special guest, Betsy Wilson, former Athletic Director, officiated and truly enjoyed reconnecting with alumni as did Mrs. Bross, field hockey coach since 1980.

Reunion Class Dinners

Class Dinners took place on the Merle-Smith Campus at Green Pond in two locations.  The classes of 1957 and earlier dined on the patio of Benigna House after enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, hosted by Headmaster George King and Charliese King while the classes after 1957 enjoyed cocktails and dinner in Walter Hall.  Classmates had a blast catching up with each other reminiscing about their days at the school.
